ABOUT BYC

About Burrard Yacht Club Community

Burrard Yacht Club is located in beautiful North Vancouver. We are a community of approximately 600 engaged, involved, and enthusiastic members with a shared passion for yachting and the marine environment. Our boats include power and sailing vessels, mainly 25 to 60 feet in length. Members enjoy secure moorage, a clubhouse with kitchen, 7 outstations, reciprocal moorage privileges, group boating activities, social activities, community service, and product discounts.

We are an inclusive, multi-generational, family-oriented club that offers many social and boating events for all ages. Our Juniors program focuses on sailing skills and social activities for young people, fostering a lifelong love of boating. Dock parties, cruises, regular educational and social activities are open to all members. We are a yachting community that encourages participation. Members contribute to the smooth operation of the Club by volunteering at events and work parties throughout the year. Knowledgeable about boating and the local marine environment, our members can be a great source of advice and assistance to those who are new to yachting or new to the Club.

RECIPROCALS

Along with our own outstations, BYC has Reciprocal Moorage agreements with some 90 Yacht Clubs here on the west coast of Canada and the USA.  Most are free or at a nominal fee.

WORKSHOP AND TOOLS

All Members may use the well-equipped workshop and sign out tools in order to complete projects or maintenance on their boats.

TIDAL GRID

Members may use the tidal grid at the Club to perform repairs and maintenance and have our maintenance crew power wash and bottom paint their vessels, all for nominal fees.  The savings from having a commercial lift are significant.

CLUBHOUSE USAGE

The Clubhouse is available for use by any member as long as it has not been booked for an event.  The Clubhouse is available to members to hold private events such as birthday parties, anniversaries, wedding receptions and other similar events for themselves and their immediate families, at a nominal fee.

MOORAGE

While there is a waiting list for moorage at this prime location, there are lots of other benefits to membership including our outstations, regular social and educational functions, tidal grid, fully equipped workshop, and a very experienced cruising culture. Moorage is currently a multi-year wait for a 40-foot berth with opportunities to sublet, especially in the summer.  Moorage is awarded based on seniority, so the sooner you become a member the sooner you will secure moorage on our docks.
